Doug Thorpe founded Thee Solar Factory with the vision of making solar roofing simple, accessible, and reliable for both roofers and DIY homeowners. With decades of experience in energy systems, Doug leads the company toward innovative solutions that combine efficiency and ease of installation.

Doug has nearly 40 years experience as a Launch Vehicle Propulsion Scientist and Energy Consultant, but also extensive background as a Subject Matter Expert in commercial roofing and HVAC.

Our solar roofing system was designed and intended to physically replace asphalt shingles and metal roofing on residential and commercial roofs.

Our solar roofing systems were designed to provide 50 years of protection from leaks. We hope they will be the last roof you ever install.

We will not support the destruction and use of arable and forested land for solar energy systems.

Thee Solar Factory Company was created when a certain large corporation in Central Florida took down 20 acres of dense forested land to create a solar array in the shape of the company’s maskot when there was over 300 acres of parking space a short distance away.

It is our goal that within 3 years we will assemble our solar panels and assessories in the USA using North American components.
