FAQ
How many solar panels do I need?
o Go to https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/ and determine how much solar will fit on your roof and how much electricity will be produced by that size solar array each year.
o Multiply the amount of electricity produced from solar by how much you pay for electricity to determine the amount of savings per year.
o To get estimated cost: multiply the amount of kW you wish to install by $2,400 (typical cost for solar installer to provide and install solar on your home).
o Divide cost by savings to determine the payback time in years; 8 to 10 years is typical.
What is so special about Thee Solar Factory's solar roofing system?
o Thee Solar Factory utilizes the highest efficiency monocrystalline PV cells we can find; to provide our customers with the lowest cost per kwh solar system.
o Our panels were designed to fit exactly between standard American roof truss/rafters; namely 16″ and 24″ wide.
o Our panels were designed with a single connector with 6 inch cable on each end; so that it is extremely obvious how they should be wired together.
o Our panels were designed like a battery; + on one end, – on the other with bypass diodes that are designed for shading on only half the panel.
o Our panels are designed for low voltage, but high current output, so that many panels can be connected in series before the 60VDC limit is reached that requires an electrician to install.
o Although our solar panels are very narrow, they are made with extra thick glass to produce the strongest frameless solar panels on the market; allowing the customer to install our solar panels on any roof north of Miami without worries.
o Our racking system is 2×4 wooden stud!
o Our roofing system will provide 50 years of leak free worries because it was designed by a roofing engineer.
o Our solar clamps run the entire length of the solar panels to provide extra strengh and resemble Standing Seam Metal Roofing.
Why should I purchase a solar system now? I thought the Federal Rebate was ending this year?
Thee Solar Factory’s Solar Roofing system will provide you with the last roof you will need under the array.
Instead of replacing your asphalt shingles every 15 to 30 years, you may never need to replace the roof under our solar panels.
Can I walk on your solar panels?
Our panels were designed with over 150 lb per square foot wind uplifting or snow load rating. A typical roof for a large factory is usually only 30 PSF.
A typical person should be able to walk on our solar panels, but be very careful, glass is slick, especially when at an angle.
CAUTION: Although our panels are strong after being clamped 100% along their lengths, frameless solar panels are very fragile when the corners strike a hard surface.
What is the 33% rule in solar panels?
The “33% rule” means you can safely install up to about one-third more solar panel power (kWp) than your inverter’s AC rating
— for example, 6.65 kWp of panels on a 5 kW inverter. Why it works: panel ratings are measured under perfect lab conditions (1000 W/m² sunlight at 25 °C).
Who can install Thee Solar Factory solar panels?
Our panels were designed so that any capable roofer or Do It Yourselfer should be able to install our solar panels, clamps, and racking as well as connect the MC4 cables between the solar panels.
But a licensed, certified, insured electrician must connect all AC components.
What do you mean by “our solar panels are designed for roofers & DIY”?
o Our solar panels were designed to fit within the space between roof truss and to resemble Standing Seam Metal Roofing.
o We use materials and components for racking that roofers are familiar with, such as wooden studs, roofing membranes, and structural screws.
o We made our solar cables so short that they can only be connected to the next panel in one way.
o The roof and solar panels will not be in danger of catching wind and destroying themselves if all of our instructions are followed.
Why should I choose Thee Solar Factory solar roofing system?
All of our prices are posted; request a quote only if you desire a bulk quantity discount.
o We are located in Kentucky.
o Our aluminum clamps are manufactured in Kentucky.
o Solar Panels will soon be assembled in Kentucky with mostly North American components.
o Our phones are staffed by Kentuckians with the thickest accents we could find so you will not call for a quote.
All prices are listed at the lowest rate; go directly to check out to purchase. .
What sort of warranty do you offer?
25-year output warranty to 80% on panels. Most solar panel manufacturers will guarantee at least 80% of the original output by the end of the 25-year warranty term, or about 0.7% degradation each year.
Can I mix panel sizes?
Panels are sized to your roof truss, so only full and half-size panels of the same width panels can be installed.
How much money can I save with solar roofing?
You can get a great estimate at NREL’s PVWatts calculator: https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/.
You can put your address in that website and it will tell you how many KWH your array will produce per year.
It even calculates the solar irradiation hours per day.
